believe location grounds of St Aidens Orphanage Bendigo, and by the mens clothing a lodge group

I agree the location does look like St. Aidan's, but if so, the lodge regalia is not likely to be masonic - more likely Hibernian or one of the Irish craft lodges.

To me it looks like View St, with Rosiland Park in the background. At 14 View St, the Sandhurst Club abuts the park.
Uphill a bit is the old Bendigo Masonic Hall. Also is the Trades Hall brick building that looks very familiar with the one in the background of this photo. I wonder if this photo was taken there before the buildings were erected downhill from Trades Hall?
