- Medal issued by the Shire of Coburg to commemorate the federation of Australia in 1901, naming Cr Arthur Cherry, JP, as Shire President.
At that time the economic focus of Coburg was still Pentridge Gaol; residents also found work on farms or in neighboring Brunswick's factories. Coburg was experiencing a period of rapid expansion, however, and its population increased four fold from 1880 to 1905 following the opening of railway and train services in the 1880s. - Acquisition Information:
