The Adelphi Hotel was built and operated by my great great grandfather, William Bolton in circa 1882. He was an immigrant from Cumberland in England, who arrived in Melbourne in 1863, and also ran a tailoring/drapery business in Sale.

The licence for the hotel was eventually passed it on to his son (my grand uncle) Charles Henry Bolton, who was born in 1871..... he is the 'C. Bolton' seen on the building in the photo.
