This is not a photographic negative of a real building, it is actually a photograph of the architect's drawing.

Hello Annette! The negative is the copy that we have in the collection. The content of that image, regardless of the medium in which it was originally created, is the Bendigo Town Hall.
The BFA images are photographs taken of prints. So the generation of the image may have been as follows:
1st generation- Drawing (original copy)
2nd generation- print (copy of the drawing)
3rd generation- negative (copy of the print which is in the MV collection as reflected in the record)

That would explain the clock in the image that wasn't actually installed until 2005.
