Coin - Semuncia, Barium, Apulia, Italy, circa 210 BC Numismatics Reg. No: NU 2025

Semuncia issued by Barium, Apulia, Italy, Ancient Greek States, circa 210 BC
Minted by Barium
Statement Of Significance:
The coin is damaged so its weight does not help with its denomination, further, the obverse is slightly off-centre so that the denomination mark * , if it occurs, is off the flan. It is either an Uncia or more probably a Semuncia, denominations based on the Roman system. The obverse depicts the Greek god, Zeus and the reverse the Greek god of love, Eros, in the act of loosing an arrow from the prow of a ship.
