Other Details: Roland Bert Jinks was born on 1 Nov 1911 in Wednesbury, England. He was the foster son of Florence Elizabeth Chadwick, of Fairfield, Victoria, Australia. On 4 Nov 1939 he went to Sale and enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was VX5704. Private Jinks died on 23 Dec 1941 at the AIF 1 Australian General Hospital. He was buried at the El Alamein War Cemetery in Egypt. His medals were donated to Museum Victoria in 1980. They comprise a War Service Star, Africa Star, Australian Service medal, Defence medal and War Service medal (NU 18701-18705).
Description:
A cupro-nickel medal with mount and ribbon. The obverse features a bare head of King George VI facing left; around, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: (Translation - George VI by the Grace of God King of all the British, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India); the artist's initials H.P. (T.H. Paget) in the field below the neck. The reverse depicts a Royal Crown above a small oak tree growing on land surrounded by water, with two lions as supporters; around, 1939 1945; in exergue, THE DEFENCE MEDAL; the artist's monogram HWP (H. Wilson Parker) among the roots of the tree.

Please i need to be guided on how to get copy's of my Father's war medals , i have is his name A,J, Tankard V.x10283 Signels & Rank w02 on discharge. Serviced in the 2nd world war 1940 to 42 then the Middle East with signal Corp later in 1942 to 43 to 44 New Guinea,war then Air warning Corp& commando's He was taken prisoner of war carried a mate to the Aust Lines only to be Highly Decorated only his collection of War Medals lost in storage many years ago Iwould love to be able to give my eldest grandson his medals to wear on Anzic Day . I hav all the names of the medals and am only to happy to give them. Thank you Jacquelyn H Pay
