Photograph by Thomas Beckett. Part of a collection of glass plate negatives taken by Dr Thomas George Beckett, doctor, pioneering radiologist and amateur photographer between 1891 and 1910. The collection is primarily of Beckett's family, friends, homes, and towns and suburbs where Beckett and his family lived, including Charlton in central Victoria and Northcote & South Yarra, suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.
Description Of Content:: A view of the Railway Hotel, Castlemaine, with a post and rail fence and railway line in the foreground. One of the fence rails carries the words 'Try Fosters'.

This is actually the Railway Hotel in Inglewood - we currently own the Inglewood building. The door under the 'A' in 'Railway' is now a window, and the window under the 'L' is now a door. Apart from that the external structure remains the same. A better quality reproduction is catalogued as Reg. No: MM 8146
