A group of spectators watching contestants arriving to inspect a Volkswagen 1200 'beetle' sedan parked in the driveway in front of the showrooms of Haack Motors, Barkly Street, Footscray.
The 'Haack's Race' was a three-legged race run from Western Oval to the car showrooms, by pairs of contestants with their middle legs tied together. First prize was a Volkswagen car is on display in the driveway. There is an advertising pyramid on the car roof rack. Haack Motors were agents for VW motor cars.
