Other Details: A copper medal issued by the Shire of Wannon to commemorate the sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1984-5. It features the Shire Shield, which depicts themes of rural industry and the sesquicentenary logo. The Wannon Shire Council presided over a farming district by the Wannon River, north-west of Hamilton. Gazetted in 1872, its focus was the town of Coleraine, serving a large agricultural area primarily used for sheep grazing. On 23 September 1994 the Shire of Wannon, City of Hamilton, and part of Shires of Dundas, Kowree, Mount Rouse and Heywood united to become the Southern Grampians Shire Council. - Description:
