Other Details: This medal was distributed to Collingwood residents and school children to commemorate the centenary of Collingwood in 1955. It names John Pascoe Fawkner as 'one of the founders of Melbourne'. Collingwood is an industrial and residential suburb, is 3 km. north-east of Melbourne. On 24 April 1855 Collingwood became a municipality, separated from the Municipality of Melbourne. It was called East Collingwood until 1873, when it was proclaimed a town. On 14 January 1876 Collingwood became a city. - Description:
