Colt 1873 Single Action Army (SAA) or Peacemaker centrefire revolver, third generation, cal. .45, rifled round barrel 139 mm (4 3/4 in) long with R.H.side mounted ejector.

Made by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co, Hartford, Connecticut, serial number SA27906, 1980.

Engraved by renowned Australian firearm engraver, Phil Vinnicombe, whose initials appear underneath the barrel at the breech end, and below the serial number on the triggerguard.

Shipped by Colt's to Frontier Arms Company, Canberra, 21 May 1980; see Colt Archive Properties authentication letter, dated 22 March 2007.
Six chambered cylinder with standard flutes, steel trigger guard, solid steel frame, steel back strap, black chequered hard rubber grips with winged eagle and shielf motif on grip lower and rampant colt framed in an oval escutcheon on grip upper, blade front sight, loading gate on R.H.side. Barrel address is a Hartford address.Two-line patent stamping on L.H.side of frame. Barrel is engraved on L.H.side 'COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45'

Barrel approx 40% engraved with scrollwork, cylinder and hammer lightly engraved with scrollwork, barrel and cylinder in black finish with inlaid gold bands, hammer polished, frame with strong case hardening colours.
