Built for the local policeman at Dromana, this three bedroom weather board house, with its corrugated iron roof and ornate timber gable-ends, is a typical example of a dwelling provided by the Government for its employees in the late nineteenth century. Each room off the central hallway had its own fireplace. At the back of the house, the rear verandah provided access to the policeman's office and the pantry and kitchen where there was another fireplace, this one for cooking. The stable and lock-up were separate buildings behind the house in an area enclosed by a timber paling fence. This house design was repeated at Whittlesea, once again to house the local policeman and his family.
