Ceradocus dooliba

Systematics: Amphipoda Family Melitidae

Distinguishing Characters:
Ceradocus doolibah is a strongly laterally flattened species, up to 20 mm long, with spikes along the edge of some of the segments of the abdomen and edges of the abdominal side-plates. The pattern of spikes separate it from Ceradocus sellickensis.

General Biology:
The species may be found in the mud under rocks intertidally throughout warm-temperate Australia. Its large size makes it obvious. The species name was chosen by the late Jerry Barnard, an American amphipodologist who described hundreds of species of Australian amphipods and gave them Aboriginal names.
