Ceradocus sellickensis

Systematics: Amphipoda Family Melitidae


Distinguishing Characters:
Ceradocus sellickensis is a strongly laterally flattened species, up to 23 mm long, with spikes along the edge of some of the segments of the abdomen and edges of the abdominal side-plates. The pattern of spikes separate it from Ceradocus dooliba.

General Biology:
The species occurs in mud under rocks intertidally where its large size, bright colour and rapid movement make it conspicuous.
