Systematics: Ostracoda Family Cylindroleberididae
General Biology:
Members of this family have a sandwich of layers of thin gills across their back. This
individual from Port Phillip Bay may belong to the species named after Mr Brady but
taxonomists are not sure. At 4-5 mm long this is one of the largest shallow water
ostracods in southern Australia.
Feedback and queries should be sent to the Discovery Centre at Museum Victoria.
Please note, the Discovery Centre can help you only with questions about crustaceans from southeastern Australia. It can not advise on the care of pet hermit crabs or on crustaceans from other regions.
