Systematics:Cirripedia Family Iblidae


Distinguishing Characters:
The four shells of this goose barnacle are horny rather than shelly and point like narrow brown finger-nails out of a body and stalk covered with hairy spines. The whole animal grows to 25 mm long.

Habitat and Distribution:
Clusters of this unusual goose barnacle are found only tucked away under rocks or in dark crevices near low water, and often associated with the calcareous coiled tubes of the tube worm Galeolaria. It occurs all along the southern coast.
