Extinctions

Mass Extinctions.

The history of life on Earth during the past 600 million years is marked by numerous episodes of extinction. Indeed, most of the species that have ever lived are now extinct.

'Living fossils'.

'Living fossils' are of interest to palaeontologists because, being so little changed in form from their ancestors, they provide information on the anatomy and life habits of the fossil representatives.
