MVteachers

MVteachers is Museum Victoria's online subscription service for teachers in Victorian schools and education institutions. It is designed to give you easy access to all our museums and information about our education services in order to facilitate the planning of school group excursions to our venues.

The benefits of your 2009 subscription are:

  • unlimited individual general entry to Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, the Immigration Museum and to the Royal Exhibition Building daily tours (excluding third party functions and events);
  • discounted tickets to IMAX films (conditions apply*);
  • one free show per year in the Melbourne Planetarium and one free show per year in The Lightning Room - Victoria University High Voltage Theatre at Scienceworks (conditions apply*);
  • invitations to special previews of Museum Victoria exhibitions, IMAX films and other programs;
  • 10% discount in Museum Victoria shops;
  • opportunities for input into the development of Museum Victoria education programs;
  • monthly Museum Victoria e-newsletter outlining education programs, new exhibitions and events.


Follow this link to subscribe or renew. You will receive a confirmation email, and your membership card will be available for collection from the museum venue you select within five working days. A current email address is required to validate your subscription.

Please note:

No discounts apply to the special exhibitions A Day in Pompeii or Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination.

  1. To subscribe you must currently be employed as a professional teacher in a Victorian pre-school, school, TAFE, AMES, Adult Community and Further Education or University.
  2. When collecting your card you must present personal photo identification (such as a driver's licence) and your current VIT registration card or equivalent identification confirming your current employment as an educator in Victoria (such as a university or TAFE teaching identification card).
  3. Those not currently employed as educators in Victoria, such as inactive teachers, pre-service teachers, home schoolers and interstate teachers are welcome to sign-up for the MVteachers e-newsletter to receive information about our education services but are not eligible for an MVteachers card.


Conditions of your subscription

  1. Subscription benefits are only available on the presentation of your MVteachers card together with current photo identification. They are not valid with any other offer.
  2. Discount does not apply to items already on sale in Museum Victoria shops.
  3. During school holidays and Public Holidays free entry to a Planetarium show is only available until 2pm.
  4. Discounted rate of $12.50 applies for standard length IMAX film (45mins). A $3.50 surcharge applies to feature length films (60+minutes). Seats are subject to availability.
  5. This card is NOT TRANSFERABLE and failure to present it at the ticket desk could result in the payment of full admission. You will be required to produce photo identification.
  6. These privileges DO NOT apply to school excursions and other organized group visits.
  7. Museum Victoria may terminate your subscription if you: fail to comply with these terms and conditions; abuse any privilege afforded to you under the education subscription program; or misuse your MVteachers card.
