Dacelo novaeguineae

The Laughing Kookaburra is one of Australia's best known birds.

Its famous laughing call can be heard in the mornings and evenings through much of Australia.

Kookaburras nest in tree hollows, and usually lay several eggs.

In times of little food, usually only the oldest, strongest chick survives.

Laughing Kookaburras feed on small mammals, birds, lizards and snakes.
