Menura novaehollandiae

The Superb Lyrebird is one of nature's finest mimics.

The male lyrebird sings intricate songs that faithfully mimic other birds of the forest. Lyrebirds have even been known to mimic cars and chainsaws.

The male sings on special mounds on the forest floor, and displays his tail by draping it forward over his head.

The female lays and incubates a single egg in a large nest made of sticks.
