Road Construction for Logging

This road near Noojee is being constructed to allow vehicle access to new logging areas.

Large areas of publicly owned tall forest are managed for timber production by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

In these State Forest areas it is possible to find everything from recently clearfelled 'coups', to mature forests and conservation reserves.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment office at Noojee assisted the Museum in salvaging thirteen Myrtle Beech Nothofagus cunninghamii trees from this site for replanting into the Forest Gallery at Melbourne Museum.
