Senecio lautus

Variable Groundsel is a herbaceous plant with dense yellow daisy flower heads reaching a metre high in summer.

It is extremely widespread and variable and is closely related to plants that are important environmental and agricultural weeds such as Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea), an introduced European plant.

Senecio plants are grazed by many insects including the common day-flying Magpie or Senecio moth (Nyctemera)
