The high rainfall and temperate climate of Mountain Ash forest areas create ideal conditions for diverse plant life, most notably ferns and fungi.

Mountain Ash grow fast and dominate in the reach for sunlight, whilst other plants are adapted to the shadier understorey and forest floor.
