Poa tenera

This common fine grass grows in moist shaded forests.

It has slender, light green leaves typically developing branched trailing or aerial stolons, sometimes with stems up to 2 m long.

Occasionally this grass will form a simple tussock.

Slender Tussock Grass is one of the main food plants for the caterpillars of at least six species of butterflies including Dispar compacta, Geitoneura acantha, G. klugii, Heteronynpha merope, H. banksii and H. paradelpha.
