Strength in numbers

The Aborigines Advancement League (AAL) was formed in 1957 to promote and fight for Aboriginal rights. Members such Geraldine Briggs campaigned for citizenship and the retention of reserve lands.

Lois Peeler has strong memories of her mother Geraldine’s commitment to securing justice for Aboriginal people. The AAL continues to provide welfare and cultural services to Victoria’s Koorie community.
