Each program unit offers a range of activities that includes warm ups, tasks to be worked on at school, a visit to the museum and follow up activities focussing on research, writing, teamwork and performance skills.
The Settlers Under Sail unit has been designed for Years 2-6, Leavings for Years 5-6.
The programs encourage children to explore the creative potential of exhibits through dramatic interpretation. The moving, evocative stories of the museum exhibits provide extensive opportunities for students to develop deep understandings as identified by the VELS.
The excursion program also includes an introduction by an Immigration Museum staff member. The Drama and Cultural Diversity unit resources are available online.
