IKONA Portraits
Until 11 Aug 2013
A photo exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of Greek migration.
A collection of portraits by renowned Melbourne photographer Georgia Metaxas reflecting on the contribution of the more than 54,000 Greek-born people who call Australia home. The young faces, captured like passport photos, speak of questions of identity, some assured and other questioning.
The first Greeks started arriving in Australia in the 19th century and this year marks the 60th anniversary of assisted Greek migration to Australia. IKONA Portraits is an opportunity to reflect on the important contribution made to Australia by the Greek community.
