Handing on the Key: Palestinians in Australia is an exhibition exploring Palestinian heritage and identity in Australia.
The exhibition was formally launched by Ms Loudy Wiggins (Tourky), Australian Olympic medal winner and prominent Australian of Palestinian background, in the presence of Commissioners of the Victorian Multicultural Commission, Palestinian community members, representatives of Museum Victoria and other community supporters.
Mr Maher Mughrabi, journalist, spoke about the importance of developing this exhibition for the Palestinian community, and thanked all the community members who had shared their stories, objects and photos. The dance troupe El Rozana then performed a traditional piece.
Ms Padmini Sebastian, Manager, Immigration Museum, thanked all guests and those involved in the exhibition.
The launch of the exhibition, which took place on 20 August 2009, was an achievement that recorded the contributions of the Palestinian community to making Australia a rich and diverse society.
