A presentation by Dr Bryan Gaensler who was awarded the 1999 Young Australian of the Year, in recognition of his significant contributions to science, astronomy and the community.
Bryan is currently working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston as part of a NASA-sponsored Hubble Fellowship. Bryan is only the second Australian to have received this prestigious award. He is currently studying 'dead stars' and in particular the remnants created when a star explodes.
