Melbourne and the Camera

Richard Daintree, Antoine Fauchery and Charles Nettleton were the first to photograph Melbourne. Using the new technology of the camera, they captured the expansion of the gold rush city. Their triumphal photographs of public buildings, banks, churches and libraries were sold individually or bound in albums.
