The exhibition depicts daily life in Pompeii before the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD. The themes explored include trade and business, food and dining, private residences, luxury and beauty, medicine, religious beliefs, burial practices, the eruption of Vesuvius, rediscovering Pompeii and archaeological excavation.
The exhibition provides a rich resource for teachers and students of History, Geography, English, LOTE (Italian), Science, Mathematics, Design, Science and Technology, and Art.
A series of education kits have been developed to support History, English, LOTE Italian and the study of Classical Societies and Cultures. Materials include downloadable slideshows of Pompeii today and signature objects reflecting the key themes in the exhibition.
