Learn about the diversity of bugs’ bodies, behaviour, habitats and life-cycles, with live insects, giant models and thousands of pinned specimens from the museum’s entomology collection, by following one of the self guided activity trails when you visit the Bugs Alive exhibition.
A variety of resources for learning about insects in the classroom are available on the Bugs website, in the Minibeasts education kit, and via the Field Guide App.
We recommend Kindergarten and Foundation to Grade 2 groups book into the Bugs, Bugs, Bugs program to support their learning experience.
This program links strongly to Victorian Curriculum Biological Science:
Foundation to Level 2
- Living things have a variety of external features and live in different places where their basic needs, including food, water and shelter, are met
- Living things grow, change and have offspring similar to themselves
Level 3 to 4
- Living things can be grouped on the basis of observable features and can be distinguished from non-living things
