Melbourne Museum Discovery Centre

Melbourne Museum Discovery Centre Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Now Showing
10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

A fun place to learn about interesting stuff.

The Discovery Centre is the perfect place for the whole family to examine objects from museum collections, explore museum websites, relax with a book from the library collection, or partake in hands-on activities. Settle the kids in the early learning reading room or activity table while the older kids and adults enjoy the variety of experiences on offer in the Discovery Centre.

Staff in the centre can help answer your questions about science, Australian history and Indigenous cultures. It's a great place to work on a school project, have a specimen identified or just find out something new. And if you're not able to visit us in person, you can ask us a question online.

Is it possible to search in the Ediacara region for fossils? Is there a collector community, who could help me?

Hi Rolf, as this site is located in South Australia it would be a good idea to contact the South Australia Museum and check in with them.

Please tell me the scientific name of the giant stick insects you have bred. Thanks
