In Conversation: Food

Join Nouria Salehi to hear about what makes Afghan food unique.

Nouria will talk about the surprising historical influences in Afghanistan cuisine, how its micro-climates are key to the primary produce of regions within Afghanistan and the main ingredients in its key dishes. Nouria will also give you some tips and tricks on cooking Afghan food and some favourite recipes to try at home.

Nouria is the co-founder of the Afghan Gallery restaurant in Brunswick Street Fitzroy. Established in 1983, the restaurant provides work for Afghan immigrants and serves delicious Afghan food. She is a highly respected nuclear physicist and biophysicist and works as an activist in Australia and Afghanistan to provide Afghani people with vocational training opportunities and literacy programs. Born in Afghanistan and trained in France, Nouria was the 2012 Victorian Senior Australian of the Year.
