agIdeas NewStar and Rodchenko 120
Past Event: 26 April 2012 to 21 June 2012
An inspiring display of NewStar finalists.
A long-standing scholarship and exhibition program for young designers and one of the largest annual international design events held in Australia.
Students from around Australia and across the globe are invited to submit examples of their best work in 2D, 3D and multimedia.
The submissions are short-listed by celebrated Australian and New Zealand designers and the top 30 ‘new stars' are selected and their work displayed at Melbourne Museum.
This year, complimenting the NewStar exhibition, a display of Russian design work will be on show.
Rodchenko 120 is a homage to Rodchenko and the Russian avant-garde. This engrossing exhibition celebrates the 120th anniversary of the birth of the Russian avant-garde movement and its role in world culture. It features the work of twenty of Russia's leading contemporary graphic designers, who were invited to design posters in memory of the influential designer, artist and photographer Alexander Rodchenko.
