GEM MINERALS IN VICTORIA

Sapphires and rubies from Trentham, Victoria

Victoria has a range of geological environments which contain gem minerals. Diamonds, sapphires, rubies, zircons, topaz, tourmaline and many varieties of quartz occur across the State. This project aims to document occurrences of gem minerals in Victoria and produce an illustrated book on the history, geological setting, features, localities and origins of the main gemstones. This project should be completed by late 1997.
