Vivianite crystals from Wannon Falls, Victoria
Phosphate minerals occur in a wide range of sedimentary environments in Victoria. These include occurrences hosted by Palaeozoic black slate or shale and sandstone-siltstone. Tertiary marine phosphatic nodule beds, and terrestrial alluvial deposits in deep leads.
Species recorded from sedimentary phosphate deposits in Victoria include: Faustite, fluellite, fluorapatite, phosphuranylite, planerite, rockbridgeite, sasaite, strengite, torbernite, turquoise, variscite, vivianite and wavellite.
