In Victoria, rocks of Devonian age occur in the east-central part of the state (including the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne and the Kinglake district), West Gippsland (e.g. the Walhalla district), and East Gippsland (e.g. the Buchan district). The Devonian sequences are rich in fossils, including corals, brachiopods, sea stars, trilobites, gastropods and bivalves.
