Commemorate the voyage of the fishing lugger, Mystery, from Cornwall, UK to Melbourne in 1854-1855.

See a model of the original vessel on display at Scienceworks. The voyage will be retraced by a yachtsman called Pete Goss in a replica of the original boat, named Spirit of Mystery.

The 37ft wooden lugger set sail this October, following in the wake of seven Cornishmen who made a heroic journey from Newlyn to Australia more than 150 years ago.

Spirit of Mystery has no engine and navigation will be by the stars and sun. The voyage is due to end in Williamstown in early 2009.
