How to Make a Monster

Past Event: 14 February 2007 to 15 July 2007

The Art and Technology of Animatronics.

How to Make a Monster takes the audience on a journey of monster creation from the original concept, storyboarding process and how the maquettes are made, through to how the full size pieces are sculpted, moulded and finished.

The exhibition’s key focus is on animatronics: the components designed and installed within the monsters to create their 'bones' and 'muscles' and bring them to life.

Highlights on show include the Abominable Snowman, gorillas from the movie ‘George of the Jungle 2’, Disney’s 'Inspector Gadget' and the alien from 'Pitch Black'.
