Is your ‘reality’ different from that of those around you?
How does your brain make sense of the world?
Perception Deception contains interactive exhibits that will challenge your ability to interpret information from your senses. Explore illusions; investigate perceptual tricks used by your brain to edit the information it receives and create your ‘reality’.
Some of the themes explored in Perception Deception include:
• Audio-language perception – Ever argued about what the exact words are for a song? Find out why in Kooky Karaoke.
• Multisensory perception – Run your hands over hard wire to see if it feels like velvet.
• Visual perception – Test whether you have an eye for detail in Are you observant?
• Social perception – Discover how magicians can sometimes manipulate our social habits and expectations when performing magic tricks to an audience in Can you be fooled?
