Welcome to the ‘Small Object Big Story’ project

‘Small Object Big Story’ encourages learners of all ages to explore the immigration history of their own community, and share that history with a wider audience. The project is suitable for primary, secondary and tertiary students, adult learners and community groups.

The project involves selecting and researching an object with an associated immigration story. Participants then contribute to the development of an exhibition featuring these objects and stories.

• to introduce the wealth of immigration history in the community,
• to increase interest in and understanding of this history,
• to show that many familiar objects hold stories,
• to create and reinforce links between communities and the Immigration Museum, a Museum Victoria venue.
