Duigan biplane
1910
The Duigan biplane was the first Australian-made aircraft to fly. Designed and built by John Robertson Duigan at Mia Mia, Central Victoria, the biplane managed sustained flights of up to a kilometre at heights of 30 metres.
Except for the engine and propeller, every component of the aircraft was made by Duigan and his brother in a rudimentary workshop on their farm.
