Carousel and steam traction engine models
Earliest 1970s
In 1953 Alfred Mervyn Smith and his wife migrated to Australia. Alfred had made working models all his life. He especially loved old English carousels and constructed this model of a carousel with great attention to detail.
Alfred Smith scavenged whatever materials he could find around the house for his model, including old coffee tins, pictures from magazines, icy-pole sticks, pieces from board gameseven his wife’s jewellery.
