Mary Badari often makes coiled
bicornual pandanus handbags. She
collaborates at times with husband
Djawida Nadjongorle in combining
his painting with her fibre work.
Julieanne Bangalang 1955

Julianne is well known for her
development of the pandanus
style handbag based on string bag
techniques. She is married to Michael
Bangalang. Julieanne works primarily
at Injalak Arts and Crafts Centre.
Ruby Billidja 1930

Ruby Billidja frequently makes the
older style conical twined baskets with
three-strand twining. She made lidded
baskets during mission times. Ruby
was married to the famous painter
Wally Mandarrk.
Judy Dakgalawuy 1956

Yirridjdja, Bulman, Gunbalanya
Judy's preferred technique is coiling.
Her specialty is large bowls with strong
patterning of blocks of alternating
colours. Her daughter Shirley is also a
fibre artist. Judy mainly works at home.
Djibugula Dhyagunga 1942

Duwa, Marlwon, Gunbalanya
Djibugula's specialty is twining and
she makes coiled baskets as well.
Her twined mats feature unusual
open spaces creating scalloped forms.
She has work in Museum Victoria's
collections from the seventies.
Labidja Dirdi 1934-2005
Ngalbangardi, Miwi
Duwa, Namurgadabu, Gunbalanya
Labidja was a senior artist who made
mainly coiled large carrying baskets and
those with lids. Her preferred colour
combinations were pink and orange.
She lived at both Goulburn Island and
Gunbalanya.
Margaret Djogiba 1940

Yirridjdja, Bulman, Gunbalanya
Margaret Djogiba makes objects in the
classic style with twining creating mats
and conical baskets that include threestrand
twining. She participated in the
Twined Together Workshop held at
Melbourne Museum in 2003.
Dorothy Dullman 1951

Duwa, Bulman, Gunbalanya
Dorothy Dullman uses coiling and her
experimental work is with mats. She
often works with her sister Margaret
Djogiba and participated in the Twined
Together Workshop at Melbourne
Museum in 2003.
