Immigration Museum Resources
The Origins website features information on over 80 immigrant communities within Victoria, written both in English and community languages. Origins is featured in the Immigration Discovery Centre on our touchscreen interactive, as well as on our public computers.
The Share A Story Database is a digitised repository where museum visitors can share their stories of migration to Victoria. This is an excellent resource, giving first-hand accounts of the migration journey. The Share a Story database can be accessed in the Immigration Discovery Centre on the ground floor of the Immigration Museum. Stories can also be submitted on our website Station Pier: gateway to a new life.
Community information summaries
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship website features a number of different community summaries that are searchable by community name.
The Vicnet portal provides a range of information on different communities in Victoria, with reference to community groups and libraries. It has approximately 10,000 links to Victorian organisations and hosts nearly 5000 community websites.
Australian Bureau of Statistics
The ABS website provides statistical information on population, as well as demographic information for different communities living in Australia.
Victorian Multicultural Commission
The Victorian Multicultural Commission is an independent statutory authority that was originally established in 1983 under the name of the Victorian Ethnic Affairs Commission. Since then, the Commission has provided independent advice to the Victorian Government to inform the development of legislative and policy frameworks, as well as the delivery of services to our culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse society.

The ECCV is a community-based organisation offering state-wide advocacy by representing the ethnic and multicultural communities in Victoria.
Multicultural Arts Victoria
MAV is Victoria's peak arts organisation promoting cultural diversity in the arts. MAV is a not-for-profit organisation and proudly represents artists and communities from culturally- and linguistically-diverse backgrounds.
Victorian Refugee Health Network
The RHRC promotes the health and well-being of refugee communities through applied and foundation research, teaching, continuing education and professional development. Its website provides links to current projects, conferences and seminars, publications and useful websites.
AfricanOz is an independently-funded website put together by people of African and Australian backgrounds. The website is the first broad-based African-Australian 'portal' offering free African events listings, music, study, communities and other links and resources.
