Transport and Travel Reminiscing Kit
Source: Museum Victoria
Remember the sound of horses' hooves, cable car bells or car horns? This photographic kit and CD can be used to reminisce about these and other forms of transport and travel through the 1920s-1950s.
How you got from one place to another in your daily life and how things were transported is something that affects everyone. Transport and travel is also something that changed dramatically over the first half of the 20th century. Thus people’s experiences of distance and time also changed. Both rural and urban life was influenced by these changes.
‘Transport and Travel’ covers the most common forms of travel: walking, horseback, horse-drawn vehicles, bicycles, trams, trains, cars, motorbikes, ferries, ships and aeroplanes, through these decades.
