The Inflatable Refugee is a large-scale art installation by Belgian artist collective Schellekens & Peleman that features a five metre-high figure of a crouched figure wearing a life-jacket.
This global art project is going to be installed at the Immigration Museum and will be on display in the Long Room during Refugee Week.
The installation is intended to be displayed on a boat and designed to bring awareness to the journey of many of the millions of people internationally who are currently seeking asylum. Inflatable Refugee has been presented in Belgium and Venice, and will continue its world tour beyond Melbourne.
