The Discovery Centre is the perfect place for the whole family to examine objects from museum collections, visit museum websites, relax with a book from the library collection, or partake in hands-on activities. Settle the kids in the early learning reading room or activity table while the older kids and adults enjoy the variety of experiences on offer in the Discovery Centre.
Staff in the centre can help answer your questions about science, Australian history and Indigenous cultures. It's a great place to work on a school project, have a specimen identified or just find out something new. And if you're not able to visit us in person, you can ask us a question online.
The Discovery Centre library contains books, popular journals and past and present exhibition catalogues. It caters to those with academic or popular interests as well as children of all ages. Our kids corner features bean bags, soft toys and story books for the tiny tots. Our library is a non-lending library.
Public computers are available to explore the museum's online resources or view multimedia from many of the museum's exhibitions.
