What's On

In May and June this year, Museums Victoria led a world-first deep sea research voyage to map life in the abyss off Australia’s eastern coast.

On board the Marine National Facility research vessel the team collected an astonishing array of deep sea creatures including coffinfish, a blob fish, giant sea spiders, zombie worms, a cookie cutter shark, carnivorous sponges and sea stars.

One of these, the Faceless Cusk, was rediscovered after almost 150 years and became a viral internet sensation.

Come and check out this strange deep sea creature, and learn more about the voyage.
